My Wife and I had our wedding reception at the restaurant in October of this year. We chose the medieval banquet as my wife is a history nut(really!). The Staff were very helpful and we can't thank them enough for the fantastic food and creating a great atmosphere for ourselves and our guests. We would also like to thank the medieval musicians they hired for us, a fantastic day was had by all.

The food looks delicious and some of the special menus look good (which I'd known about the chocolate dinner before it was booked out!), but there doesn't seem to be a regular menu available and the files open in QuickTime. Very weird.

We ate on the the 1st sept. WE were so impressed with the surroundings, the food and the staff. We were never made to feel out of place in this 1st class resturant and the staff were so helpfull explaining the food and comparing with other flavours. The food was to die for every mouthfull a taste of heaven. We will definately be back and will be recomending the resturant to all. Thanks all very much

My wife and I ate at the restaurant 3 weeks ago for the first time after overhearing a conversation in the street between two couples. We were luckily found a table and enjoyed everything from the decor, ambience and fine music through to the wonderful food made even nicer due to the fact that all ingredients are sourced as locally and seasonally. My wife has said she would like to celebrate her 40th birthday with a meal at Blackfriars.

My boyfriend and I had a gorgeous dinner here. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff were excellent. My boyfriend did say that the portions were small, but I found three courses very filling - depends what you're used to, I expect. Definitely recommended.

Dear all at Blackfriars We were lucky enough to have a glorious meal in your restaurant on the 28th of April. I could kick myself for not having taken photos of the beautiful & delicious dishes! But l think they are etched in my memory anyway!!!!!!!!! We live in Kent so we shan't be able to repeat the experience in a hurry Not only was the food divine but your staff were brilliant too. We were looked after by Melanie Lawson & a young man with glasses and a ponytail. Melanie was very helpful with the selection of ales! Seeing l had already had two pints l could not try the Temptation there & then but Melanie kindly sold me a bottle to take home!!!!!! She said that nobody ever finished a pint of Temptation and l promised to let her know how l got on. Melanie you were right about the wonderful colour of this ale! I liked the rich taste and the tingling of the yeast and given the chance l'll certainly savour another pint of Temptation!!!!!!! I had my pint the other day!!! I was very thirsty and drank it rather too quickly - which is sinful really!- & l finished it in 20 minutes. But l would not have wanted a second one immediately!!!! To whom it may concern, We would like to thank you all so very much for a wonderful evening Thurs (April 2) . We found the sirvice, food and premises to be of the highest standard. The two young men who looked after our table could not have been kinder or more helpful, so could you please pass on our grateful thanks to them.We would definitely like to repeat the experience at some time but until then we will certainly recommend your establishment to any one looking for somewhere that bit special! Dear Marlena and the whole staff of Blackfriars, Just to say that the conference delegates thoroughly enjoyed the dinner on Friday – especially the roast suckling pig was a great success! But also the nice atmosphere and being able to have a nightly walk in the cloisters proved very popular. Went for lunch on Saturday during a weekend away in Newcastle. I loved it immediately! Great wine list and a brilliant, simple lunch menu full of heart-warming dishes. I never knew there was so much great produce in the north east! Food and service totally lived up to the beautiful surroundings

I had a working lunch here on Monday afternoon and I'll definitely be going back soon. My starter of smoked salmon was gorgeous and main of sausages and mash was so comforting. We were in and out within an hour, without feeling rushed and at £15 for two courses and a glass of wine it was really reasonable. This is the perfect place to escape from work in your lunch hour!

Thank you for making Mothers Day a special occasion to remember. It is several months since we visited your restaurant but we will be back very soon indeed. The food was excellent both in presentation and taste, the service was first class with just the correct amount of attention given without being overwhelming. Well done , keep up the good work.

My boyfriend booked us in to the restaurant for Valentines Day and we both have an absolutely gorgeous meal! The beautiful setting, delicious food, and friendly staff made our night perfect! Staff were very friendly and attentive without being overly fussy which is just the way I like it! Thank you all so much... and we will definately be recommending you to friends and family!

We held our wedding reception at Blackfriars last month and it was absolutly fantastic. The staff made our day very memorable (particularly Alex) and everybody had such a lovely time. We'll be back! x

Having just returned from some supper at your fine establishment, I feel compelled to write to let you know what a simply define experience we had. The staff were faultless (although that Irish filly is a bit cheeky!), the food exquisite and the ambience delightful. Ding dong!

I just wanted to thank you for making my birthday extra special. The food was fantastic and the service brilliant. My partner stated it was my birthday during the reservation and your staff took notice and presented me with a glass of bubbly, which was totally unexpected.
